South Mountain Community College
South Mountain Community College offers a varied and diverse program of performing arts and fine arts events, including theatre, music, and dance. In addition, SMCC's Storytelling Institute is unique to the southwest, and includes a roster of faculty skilled in the teaching and performance of this specialized art form.
Dozens of performances are presented each year in the college's 350-seat Performance Hall and the more intimate, 75-seat Studio Theatre. SMCC's theatrical productions have been nominated for a variety of ariZoni theatre awards, and the college's spring Storytelling Festival has become one of the most popular events of its kind in Arizona. The college is perhaps best known for its annual presentation of highlight's from Handel's Messiah, performed by SMCC faculty (featuring Metropolitan Opera mezzo soprano Isola Jones), as well as students and a community choir.-
