Fantastic music and the leads fantastic acting made this show enjoyable but because the music and acting were so good, it left me wanting much more from the story and the characters. The conflict in the characters just didn't feel plausible and it was impossible to relate to them. but that said, Rob is an incredibly gifted composer and his music makes you feel love, excitement, drama, and best of all: humor! This event was a disaster! It was poorly organized, extremely crowded, and terribly overpriced. Let's just call it what it is- EXPO! This is not a "fair", it is a huge stadium filled with vendors trying to sell you things. You must walk through all of the vendors to get to anything. The rides are about $3 per kid, per ride. The lines to get to anything "included" such as seeing a character up close, were a minimum of 30 minutes, usually longer. Most 4 year olds, just can't wait that long. Stage shows were not as scheduled- very disappointing! Very poor signage, especially for restrooms. The only operational restrooms were at the far north end of the stadium. People were leaving the "faire" very unhappy and disappointed. I would bet my last dollar that you wouldn't find even five families that said, "What a great day! We had a wonderful time!" I would be surprised if you even found one. Don't go! It was totally miserable! I would rather have gone to Chuckecheese and I hate that place! Collapse

I attended with our whole family. Blackbeard has all the excitement, quality and talent associated with the best shows. I connected immediately with the characters. I found great variety in the music. I enjoyed comedy, romance, drama and even swashbuckling. Evenings of excellent musical theatre with a very talented live orchestra are few and far between in our valley. Thanks to Rob Gardner for premiering this show in our town. Thanks to cast and crew for their hard work and a stellar event. Can't wait to see the show again. Yes, I do want to be a Pirate!!! Collapse

I was really looking forward to seeing this production at the lovely new venue in Tempe (especially after seeing last season's show "5 Women Wearing the Same Dress" there) But my friends and I were really disappointed in this show. First of all, it is really dated (not the actors fault,of course) but I don't know why they would chose this show. Secondly, the actors were really struggling with lines and it showed. The lady in the third act was pretty funny, but the other two (especially the young girl) were not so great. The guy, who played in all three scenes was OK, but not as funny as he should have been. He got better as the show went on. Again, just not up to par for a good theater company. Collapse

This production was so bad it was embarrassing to watch! The acting was horrible, and the director had the actors moving around so much on the tiny set, it made my head spin! Costumes were deplorable (men in Tuxedos at this party and women in day dresses?) And the set looked like a Goodwill store! Theater Works has got to do better if they are going to charge $20 a seat!
