I have seen Aida performed by Valley Youth Theatre at the Herberger twice. I am seriously thinking about going again this weekend! The show is incredible. After a while you feel as though you are watching seasoned adults. The entire cast (as well as the costumes) absolutely sparkle. This is not really a show for kids, more PG 13. I had my doubts about men portraying the nuns. Yes there is a tiny amount of falsetto work in order to keep the illusion alive, but not to the point of distraction. Each "sister" has their strengths and uses them to the utmost. There are only two points in the show that needed improvement: I wish Sister Amnesia's puppet had workable arms, and the line "Sister Julia...Child of God" should be read "Sister Julia Child...of God" in order to really drive home the classic cooking show reference. Other than that the Reverand Mother's look of dissaproval is priceless and the "Dying Nun" ballet is fantastic! It's the first time I've seen it done like that and now I wouldn't want to see it any other way! Go see the show if you've had a bad day, because this will make you forget all about it. Promise. I took my daughter and 2 grandsons to this show. The cast was friendly and upbeat. They made us feel welcome and appreciated. The show was funny! We had some great laughs that were very family friendly. I would recommend this show for anyone! Collapse

The Broadway Palm is normally a place for high-end entertainment, but from now thru September, the Palm will be transformed into your neighborhood honky tonk for the run of the country-fried musical, The Honky Tonk Angels. In the first act of the show, the audience is introduced to three women from different walks of life, portrayed by BP veterans Elizabeth, Carolyn, and Jillian. Their priorities might have gotten in the way of their dreams of being singers, but destiny brings the 3 of them together as they meet on a bus bound for Nashville, and become the Honky Tonk Angels. While the first act establishes the Angels’ story, the second act is easily the highlight of the show. One of the most notable numbers is “Harper Valley PTA,” in which the charismatic Loos sings from the humorous perspective of a mother with questionable parenting skills. Filled with heart, humor and beloved country tunes, The Honky Tonk Angels is your ticket for a good old time this summer. Collapse

I attended the opening night performance of this show and it was a treat. The food was amazing(standing ovation for the chef) and the script rather funny. Kudos to Chuck he was highly entertaining. The costumes were a delight and a wonderful nod to the 1970's. I recommend this for any mystery buff or avid golfer. After attending Honky Tonk Angels which too was a wonderful production my wife and I thought this would be a fun evening and we were correct. I recommend getting your tickets soon for this as the evening we attended there was not an empty seat. Congratulations to the staff at Broadway Palm for bringing such wonderful entertainment to the Valley. Best of luck on your new season and many more to come.
