Mothers Who Write
Amy Silverman and Deborah Sussman Susser have co-taught Mothers Who Write since Spring 2002. Both are commentators for KJZZ, the NPR affiliate in Phoenix.
Silverman is associate editor of Phoenix New Times and a Phoenix native. She's written for the paper for 13 years, and in addition freelances for national publications including the New York Times. Her column "Bad Mom" appears monthly on AustinMama. She has a masters degree in journalism from Columbia University in New York, and has twice been honored as Journalist of the Year by the Arizona Press Club. She lives in Tempe with her husband Ray and daughters Annabelle and Sophie.
Susser is associate editor of Jewish News of Greater Phoenix, and a freelance reviewer for publications such as Art in America and the Washington Post. She has a masters degree in English from Hollins College and an M.F.A. in fiction from the University of Virginia. In a former life, she lived in New York and was the editor of Scholastic Scope magazine. She now lives in Tempe with her daughter Anna.-
