With this exhibit, the Museum makes up for its past sins of showing lousy photography from some local (overrated) photographers. You have to see the exhibit which shows Mexico as an empire, living in the present and the colonial era of the 1500's and 1600's at the same time. All of the images are in black and white, grainy, what I call classic Tri-X look. Well divided by various topics and artists, I recommend spending some serious time. Probably one of the best current exhibits in the United States, bar none. The catalog of the images will soon be available in print as a book. BUY ONE!! Collapse

This is an excellent exhibit. It features a couple dozen or so artists and photojournalists who are either from Mexico, or spent significant portions of their life photographing there. It is all black and white, mostly film photography, though a small portion of it is digital. The bulk of the work is from the 80s and 90s, though some of it dates back to the 1940s, I believe. A small portion of it is also within the last five years. The work touches on various themes such as indigenous culture, poverty, the elderly, globalization, protest, and the industrialization of Mexico. I highly recommend this exhibit Collapse
