Ollies' Storybook Adventures - April
April 4-April 25, 2008
Would you like to introduce your preschooler to archaeology, desert wildlife, and Native American cultures? The Deer Valley Rock Art Center is pleased to host another season of the popular children's program, Ollie's Storybook Adventures. Storybook is an educational program that offers fun and interactive ways for children to learn about Native American cultures as well as the plants, animals, and archaeology of the American southwest. Each adventure includes a story, art activity, music, and outdoor games. This month of April focuses on butterflies on April 4 and a special surprise theme on April 25! Important Information: Ollie's Storybook Adventures is for children ages three to six and their parents. Each session is limited to ten children. Reservations are required. Please call (623) 582-8007 to sign up.

This is a funfilled hour long storytime. The children love hearing a story, doing a craft, walking outside to see of the wonders of the desert, especially the animals.

The museum and nature preserve are a great quiet place to sit and think and get away from the hustle and bustle of Phoenix and Glendale. The petroglyphs are best viewed in the morning before 11:00 am or in the afternoon after 3:00 pm. The museum offers informative displays. The nature trail is wide and well graded. Bring the kids to show them wildlife. Squirrels and rabbits abound and provide ample food for the owls and raptors on the property. The occasional javelina is seen in the early morning.
