The Broadway Palm is normally a place for high-end entertainment, but from now thru September, the Palm will be transformed into your neighborhood honky tonk for the run of the country-fried musical, The Honky Tonk Angels. In the first act of the show, the audience is introduced to three women from different walks of life, portrayed by BP veterans Elizabeth, Carolyn, and Jillian. Their priorities might have gotten in the way of their dreams of being singers, but destiny brings the 3 of them together as they meet on a bus bound for Nashville, and become the Honky Tonk Angels. While the first act establishes the Angels’ story, the second act is easily the highlight of the show. One of the most notable numbers is “Harper Valley PTA,” in which the charismatic Loos sings from the humorous perspective of a mother with questionable parenting skills. Filled with heart, humor and beloved country tunes, The Honky Tonk Angels is your ticket for a good old time this summer. Collapse

'The Honky Tonk Angels' was not as spectacular as I expected. The set was very classy, although the lousy script and costumes really shot this one! Fame Loos was amazing as usual, although Zygo and McPhee did not dazzle me. But as the music flowed through this tight production, 'The Honky Tonk Angels' is one to miss. Collapse

I was fortunate to work with all three of these wonderful ladies in Oliver! and The Sounds Of Christmas. Jill did a wonderful job and left me in goose bumps with the song "Coal Miner's Daughter." Elizabeth was hilarious in her version of "Stand By Your Man." Caroline left me afraid of getting a fax after she sang "These Boots Are Made For Walking." The show was wonderful and I give it 5 out of 5 stars. Go see it. Collapse

Not a country music fan? Have no fear - most of the songs in The Honky Tonk Angels are crossover top 40 hits like 9 to 5, Harper Valley PTA, Delta Dawn, Coal Miner's Daughter, Ode To Billy Joe and I Will Always Love You. If you've been to a show at Broadway Palm chances are you have seen at least one of these three very talented ladies in a starring role: Elizabeth Loos, Carolyn McPhee and Jillian Nyhan Zygo - together they are amazing. The band is phenomenal and the handsome hunky cowboy that opens Act II singing about "Trashy Women" will make you want to put on more lipstick and rouge and wait for him at the stage door! The story is funny, touching and uplifting. The set is great and the costumes are terrific. I highly recommend this show. Collapse

I was not sure what to expect from The Honky Tonk Angels, however I was delightfully surprised! Act I sets the pace for the show, going in-depth on the girls’ lives and detailing their desire to journey to Nashville. Angela, wonderfully portrayed by Elizabeth Loos, is a loveable housewife with 6 kids and is married to a man named Bubba. It was Angela’s weariness of child-bearing and having a husband who “comes home a drinkin” that led her to Nashville, Darlene and Sue Ellen. Sweet Darlene, played by Jill Zygo, is a “Coal Miner’s Daughter” and ventures away after deciding that she cannot spend her life caring for her widowed father. Sue Ellen’s character played by Carolyn McPhee is a Texas native living in L.A. who travels to Tennessee after losing patience with her boss’s forward attempts to have a relationship. In Act II, the Honky Tonk Angels become stars, but realize it may not be everything they ever wanted having learned much about their dreams, family, and friendship. Collapse

I was impressed with Broadway Palms Production of Oliver however Honky Tonk Angels is AMAZING!!! If you pick one show to see in the Valley right now do not miss this one. The live band is great and the singers do a GREAT job. Carolyn's Cleopatra Queen of Denial is just a stich when they get members of the audience foe a "Walk Like an Egyptian" Contest. Jillian's Coal Ode To Billy Joe leaves you with goose bumps and Elizabeth's Stand By Your Man is a riot when she rips the arms off of her over sized husbands shirt. This is a production that you should not miss. I will return with friends when they come to visit from the east coast. Top notch entertainment. Collapse

My wife and I attended the matinee on Thursday July 31st. It was a lovely afternoon. The food selection was very good and service was above par. The theater, lobby and gift shop were nicely decorated in a very tasteful and modern fashion. The performance was WONDERFUL. The three young ladies were a treat to watch. Ms. Loos' rendition of Harper Valley PTA was just a stitch to watch and her voice A+. Ms. McPhee's 9 to 5 did justice to Dolly Parton. Finally there are not words to describe Ms. Nyhan-Zygos turn on Fancy...she is a beautiful young lady and has a voice that should be in a Broadway production. I suggest that you get tickets to this production as soon as possible because it is a hit. I look forward to seeing these talented ladies again on stage. Collapse
