Amid a tangle of changing identities-and sometimes sexes-the action of the play centers on an American family, the Tammurais, who are traveling aboard the Titanic. Comprised of father, mother, brother and sister (or is she actually the Captain's daughter?) the Tammurais undergo a series of sexual permutations as they reveal all manner of shocking secrets and bizarre fetishes while awaiting the iceberg which, somehow, the ship seems unable to find. The mother tells the father that their son is not really his; the father confesses to the mother that their daughter is not really hers; the daughter mysteriously becomes an aunt who is having an affair with her sister (when she isn't seducing her nephew); while the father and son compete vigorously for the affections of a handsome young sailor, who is hard put to choose between them. Eventually the ship does go down, taking its odd assemblage of passengers with it, but leaving behind a remarkable array of original thoughts on the nature of the modern American family and the undeniably disturbed society which nurtures it. Titanic by Christopher Durang is a wildly funny and outrageously irreverent spoof by one of our theater's most spirited and original writers, which finds high comedy in the zany doings of an unlikely group of passengers aboard the doomed Titanic. 'This is a wild drawing-room farce that happens to take place at sea. The humor is untamed, a nonstop flow of outrageous jokes, puns and burlesque byplays.' -The New York Times. Important Information: This performance is not suitable for children.

I wasn't sure what to expect, but was blown away. The singing was great, the actors were passionate, and the story fresh and original. Although, philosophically I disagree with the homeless character, the woman who played her was awesome! What a voice! The man who played "the fat nurse" put his heart into it and was a pleasure to watch. I was blown away by what this group accomplished. I haven't had such a great time at a local show in years. Money well spent, extremely entertaining and highly recommended. Collapse

I LOVED this show! I have seen many shows by this company and this is one of my favorites. The acting and singing is incredible. It made you laugh and cry and and the actors were great at capturing your attention and pulling you in. For a small company and location they sure do put on great entertainment! My husband and I always enjoy supporting them. Way to go on another great production! Collapse

I am not an avid fan of theatre. I went to see this with some friends and LOVED it! It was funny, sometimes sad, with a great message. The cast was awesome and very talented! I wouldn't doubt it if some of these actors end up making their marks at larger theater companies such as Phoenix Theater. This would be a testament to their skills. I highly recommend this play to any adults looking for great entertainment at an affordable price. Collapse

Once in a while as an audience member, you are treated to a performance that both exceeds any expectations you may have had, and moving you to new emotional heights along the way. Artists'Theatre Project's production of A NEW BRAIN at Soul Invictus did just that. Arguably, the most introductory friendly of the 4 produce-able pieces by William Finn, the show has something for everybody, from catchy pop ballads to clever sondheim-esque patter songs, the cast is exceptional. That being said, admittedly, I am sucker for women belters, and Kimberlee Blazes through William Finn's score with razor sharp precision hitting notes in the stratosphere while making it seem as effortless as cutting through butter with a hot knife. RUN do not WALK to see A NEW BRAIN at @pro!!! Collapse

I was extremely disappointed. The script itself was smart and funny however I don’t think the actors were skilled enough to pull of such unique and witty material. But perhaps it was just the direction they were given. One of the actors was actually reading his lines off of the back of a prop during one of his monologues. Another of the actresses performed all of her characters the same and yelled lines at inappropriate times killing the joke she was telling. She also broke character and starting laughing on stage every time the audience would react to the jokes. Unfortunately the directors costume choice for her was very unflattering on what I’m sure is normally a very attractive woman. The highlight of the evening was the girl who did the monologue about pooping! The only time I laughed was when she was on stage. I think she was the only one who embodied the spirit of the show. I am going to pass this off as a fluke for a theater company that normally produces wonderful shows. Collapse
