Life As Joby is an original play that takes a journey through the many facets of the mind of a young alcoholic. Finally, there is a play that deals with the issues of alcohol abuse in our society today in a realistic, truthful, edgy approach. The original youth play Life as Joby is a new gripping drama about a young mans struggles to drink or not to drink.

"Life as Joby" is a fantastic show, the actors are amazing and the story is reality to many. The show makes you sad, makes you laugh and makes you think about life and how hard some families deal with today's world, with teenage drinkers and drivers. I rate it 10 Stars!!! Collapse

"The acting is superb, especially when you consider that these are just teenagers tackling such difficult material. In the role of Joby, the confused young man who has become a confirmed alcoholic by age 22, is magnificent. He never is out of character, even during scene changes, and both physically and mentally he handles the rigors of portraying this difficult role with absolute ease. His mood swings are real, his excesses are numbing and his overall performance is worthy of someone with twice his experience. Here is a young man to watch as he continues to perfect his craft. As Joby's long forbearing sister, Sentry (a symbolic name if I ever heard one), is equally effective. She is a strong foil to his degradation as she first denies then tries to save him from himself. And finally, there are the ten 'Mind Voices'. a brilliant device used by the author to take us inside tormented Joby's id. Gradillas has done a magnificent job." Collapse

I've been coming to this place and seeing shows here since the Peoria center opened and this was probably the best acted show I've seen here! These are teens...and they act to the caliber of adults. That's wonderfully intriguing. I recently came to see the Importance of Being Earnest when I saw a postcard for the show...it looked very interesting so I decided to come back the next morning and see this show. While 'Earnest' was funny and timeless, my husband and myself really enjoyed 'Joby' the most. It is very modern, clever, and the actors really were amazing. It was truly fabulous. I recommend it to anyone looking for good theatre! I feel like a reviewer now! Collapse

I saw Joby at Stagebrush Theatre and then again at a church for an outreach program. I laughed and then cried and the play has left a lasting impression on me and look forward to seeing the remount.

Last year I took my daughter (15) and son (17) to see the performance at Stagebrush Theatre. They loved it-and so did I. It wasn't preechy, it was truthful, at times a bit kooky, but without a doubt it was a learning experiance. The lead actor who played joby really impressed me the most, for an 18 year old he was better than most actors I've seen in other shows. The actress who played the sister of joby really has talent as well. I'm looking foreward to seeing this show again I just hope the same cast is back. Collapse
