Add Review/CommentBy Stefanie Zadravec. Beth, a born again Christian, comes to New York to save her estranged sister from a brain tumor, but ends up saving her daughter and herself. Save Me delivers its miracles in odd packages: a bright red wig, a postcard from the edge, a superhero sex-addict, and a bouquet of flowers from a woman without a nose. New Works Festivals, such as the one at Phoenix Theatre, allow professional playwrights an opportunity to develop their work in front of an audience, without elaborate costumes and sets. The plays are presented by professional actors and directors in a casual, staged reading format. The plays selected are new, full-length works that are 'near-ready-for-production.' Audience members in attendance are encouraged to provide feedback and share their insight with the playwrights, directors and actors after each reading.
