The 8th annual Celebration of Dance is coming to Cave Creek as part of a campaign to bring dance to the desert foothills. For the past eight years, this exciting dance-concert has been presented in the Phoenix and Scottsdale area theaters and now on Saturday, May 12th the concert will be presented at Cactus Shadows Fine Arts Center in Cave Creek. Celebration of Dance concert was created exclusively to bring visibility and recognition to the dance-arts in Arizona as part of the National Dance Week campaign; an annual phenomenon that occurs at the end of April of each year. 'And we thought it was a good time to bring this exciting dance event also to our community in Cave Creek for everyone in this surrounding area to enjoy' says executive producer and creator Helena Saraydarian. In 1999, Miss Saraydarian enlisted as Arizona's Delegate for National Dance Week and saw the need and had the urge to create an event such as Celebration of Dance to support this national campaign. The entire dance community was invited to participate and industry professionals, family, and friends were asked to help launch this valuable community event. Helena Saraydarian is a professional dance teacher and chorographer and for the past fifteen years involved in producing, she is the executive producer and creator of Celebration of Dance concert series. To help with the enormous production task several years ago, Miss Saraydarian formed Golden Lion Productions, inc., a (501 c3) non-profit arts organization dedicated to serving the dance community with educational and creative projects and presenting it to the public to enjoy. 'I'm so excited and amazed at the amount of volunteers and performers who have been willing to be part of this concert event,' Miss Saraydarian adds 'and extremely grateful for everyone's valuable time.' Each year, Helena invites industry professionals to help select the dance pieces to be performed along with co-producer Lisa Starry who is also the artistic director of Scorpius Dance Theatre. Dee Dee Wood, a Cave Creek resident for many years and an award winning director-choreographer who has been involved in directing many of the Desert Foothills Theater's musicals for the past several years and accredited to many classic Disney films. Ruth Doering, a professional dancer who had performed in classical television dance shows such as 'The Gary Moore Show,' and 'Ed Sullivan Show,' and many other shows in N.Y and Hollywood. And Stacy Van Dyke, a professional singer and actress. As well as various other wonderful dance industry professional from the surrounding areas. Miss Saraydarian asks for the community's support, 'We graciously invite the community to come and join us for this thrilling concert in Cave Creek to support Arizona's dance community and to enjoy the excellence and the artistry of this thrilling display of dance expression. The diversity of dance styles we have selected such as ballet, modern, hip hop, jazz, flamenco, folkloric, contemporary, classic belly dance, and classical Indian dances is certain to move everyone of all ages. Where else would one see such a variation of dance creations on one night only under one roof!'
