Backstage at the Opera
June 9, 2007
Backstage at the Opera is a rare opportunity for the chorus members to step out of the crowd and share their talents in the spotlight - alone or with one or two colleagues. “It is a real labor of love,” says John Cleveland, President of AGMA-AZ. “Not only do we have the opportunity to do what we love to do best, but we get to be an active part of raising money and support for Arizona Opera.” This is the third annual presentation of Backstage at the Opera. “We are very excited to present this concert at the Temple of Music and Art, a jewel of a theatre in downtown Tucson and an elegant setting in which to share great music. In Phoenix, Backstage at the Opera will be performed at the Phoenix Boy’s Choir Facility in a wonderfully intimate setting that really brings the music to life.” Helpful Information: Backstage at the Opera will begin with a wine and hors d’oeuvre reception at 6:30 p.m., followed by the performance at 7:30 p.m. and an intermission buffet of desserts and coffee. All performers donate their time and talents in support of their ‘artistic home’ and proceeds from the evening will be donated to the general fund of Arizona Opera. Performance Location: Virginia G. Piper Theater

Support the AZ Opera Company! My husband and I enjoyed the AZ Opera production of Rigoletto on Thursday night. We were especially impressed by the Joll, Oropesa and Thomas. The costuming, staging and orchestra were also noteworthy. We love the MET, and are happy that the Land of AZ is showing signs of promise. I attended La Gioconda at the MET a few weeks ago ... I had forgotten how fantastic the acoustics are at the MET. Something is still missing at Phoenix Symphony Hall. All technical problems should have been resolved by now. Our local and guest artists deserve the best! ENJOY! Collapse
