Faces includes twenty-four panels by students at the New School for the Arts & Academics, Tempe, Arizona. Art Instructor Hector Ruiz gave each beginning to advanced drawing student a black and white copy of a group of women. Using bamboo pens and brushes with ink and ink wash, each student created a series of 15 portraits. Through repetition, the students increased their skills at portraiture and learned the subtleties of drawing with ink and ink wash.
