Add Review/CommentIt is said that every day, somewhere in the world, this opera is being performed. Rich with emotion and gorgeous lyrical arias, Madama Butterfly transports audiences to the world of 19th Century Nagasaki, where the devoted geisha waits patiently for the return of her American husband. Sir Colin Graham will lead Arizona Opera’s production, which will be conducted by Australia native Anthony Walker. Madama Butterfly has a cast of 13, with a chorus of 32 and an orchestra of 60. Sopranos Indira Mahajan (New York City Opera) and Barbara Divis (San Diego Opera) alternate in the title role, mezzo soprano Maria Zifchak (Metropolitan Opera) sings Suzuki and tenor Kip Wilborn (San Francisco Opera) sings Pinkerton. Notes: Madama Butterfly will be sung in Italian with English surtitles. Credits: Production underwritten by the Kaizen Institute
