    After a run of popular hits, Gilbert and Sullivan come to a creative impasse. A chance visit to a Japanese art exhibition in London provides inspiration for The Mikado, a farcical critique - and smashing success - of Victorian society, disguised in exotic dress. Topsy-Turvy won Academy Awards for costume design and makeup.
