Add Review/CommentAs a release from perpetual suppression of the urge to smack fellow shoppers, or a means to prepare for the oddities and familial neuroses of end of the year festivities that even eggnog can't numb, see: The SantaLand Diaries. David Sedaris, America's premiere humor writer, gives us the twisted true-life tale of his misadventures working as an elf at Macy's department store. Cynical and wary, David hardly expects a walk through a winter wonderland, but Santaland proves to be an more brutal battlefield than he could ever foresee. Psychotic Santas, demonic children and unbearable parents are just the tip of the artificial iceberg as David confronts challenge after challenge to what meager Christmas spirit he possesses. Will he make it to Christmas Eve, the elfin D-Day, or will he and his pointy-toed shoes go AWOL on the 20th? Two more of Sedaris' lunatic characters round out the merry mayhem: socialite Jocelyn Dunbar, penning her annual holiday letter, is determined to wish her friends and family 'Season's Greetings' despite the utter misery her life has become, while acid-tongued theater critic Thaddeus Bristol reminds us just how awful holiday-themed entertainment can be...when it's performed by children! Location: TinselTown Tavern, 2017 N. Scottsdale Road.
