Add Review/CommentFree Arts of Arizona received a community relations grant from Desert Schools Federal Credit Union, which funded a visual arts program in January, 2004. Guest artist Meri Friedman was commissioned to provide photography workshops for adolescent girls at the Crossroads Charter School. Ten at-risk teenage girls participated in a series of photography workshops where they explored the world around them through the eyes of a camera, redefining and gaining a new sense of their environment. Techniques of shape, light, shadow, and framing were taught as the girls brought the people and places they were familiar with into focus. The photos displayed give us a small glimpse into their lives. Location: Exhibit open to the public through October 9th in association with 'Art Walk' at Childress Automall, 23rd Ave. and Camelback in Phoenix.
