After a successful run in Scottsdale last season, and back by popular demand, Artists’ Theatre Project will bring best-selling humorist David Sedaris’ hysterical holiday horror tales, The Santaland Diaries & Season’s Greetings, to Monroe’s in Downtown Phoenix, December 8 - 17, 2005. Adding to the magic, director Jim Linde has reassembled his dream cast of local thespians--Scott Campbell, Stacie Lambeth and Neil V. Cohen--to bring Sedaris’ scathingly irreverent alternative to the holiday hoopla back to the stage. The crass commercialism of the holiday season is roundly skewered in David Sedaris’ Christmas-themed monologues, The Santaland Diaries & Season’s Greetings--where we meet David, the disgruntled Macy’s holiday elf, Jocelyn, the always chipper but steadily unwinding housewife and Thaddeus Bristol, a bitter curmudgeon reduced to doing critiques of children’s Christmas pageants--all intercut for momentum and visual interest into a fast-paced sleigh ride of slyly ironic fun. Essentially a new kind of dinner theater for “the rest of us,” @PRO’s production of The Santaland Diaries & Season’s Greetings continues in the grand tradition of “fabulously fierce” (The Phoenix New Times) and “wickedly clever” (The Arizona Republic) theatrical productions which earned them the title “Best Theater Company for the 2004 – 2005 season” (East Valley Tribune). Venue: Monroe’s Downtown 3 West Monroe in Phoenix
