Jack Dykinga began his photojournalism career with the Chicago Tribune. In 1971, as a member of the Chicago Sun Times staff, he won journalism's highest award, the Pulitzer Prize, for feature photography. He came to Arizona in 1976 and five years later began his freelance career making landscape photographs. Here he will recount his experiences in his presentation, 'Circling the Canyon's Rim: A Photographic Tour of Well-Known and Secret Canyon Viewpoints!' Dykinga's work reflects the merging of a photojournalistic, documentary approach with large-format landscape photography. He focuses on environmental issues in the United States and Mexico. During the program, he will reveal his intimate locations for photographing the majesty and wonder of the Grand Canyon. He has shot photos for Arizona Highways magazine for over 25 years. In the process, he had discovered the amazing diversity of Arizona's landscapes. His new book, Images: Jack Kykinga's Grand Canyon celebrates one of his most favorite locations. Dykinga is the third speaker in the Canyon Country Community Lecture series, sponsored by the Grand Canyon Association and Coconino Community College's Colorado Plateau Studies program.
