The Juke Joint All Stars get together only twice a year, yet they are still working on their second album. The difficulty in meeting is not work schedules nor time conflicts, the issue is that for most of the year the band is over 7,000 miles apart. The band is made up of mostly Tucson based musicians who play in bands like The Bad News Blues Band and Grams and Krieger. However, their piano player, an essential part of this band, comes from just outside of Amsterdam in The Netherlands. Eric-Jan Overbeek, or Mr. Boogie Woogie as he is known worldwide, met the Tucson group at a blues festival and ever since they have toured Europe together and have played all over the U.S. The band now gets together in Tucson the Fall and the Spring for one month at a time and they play together as much as possible. Currently they are in the studio working on their second CD release which means they are doing just a few shows locally this time around. They will play high energy jump blues in a tribute to Wynonie Harris for an all ages crowd. You may have heard Wynonie Harris' music and may not even know it. His music comes from the era just after big bands but before rock and roll. The music was Rhythm and Blues and Wynonie influenced people like Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis, and many more. His music included 'Good Rockin' Tonight', 'Keep on Churnin'', 'All She Wants to do is Rock', and many more that you will just love.
